The Can Do
A Can Opener optimized for Manufacturability
My cohort and I worked together to take a product concept (an ergonomic and efficient can opener) through the manufacturing process in order to optimize the product's design for maximum profitability.
The Can Do: Skills
Problem
How Might We:
optimize the can opener for ease-of-use and manufacturability?
Process
One-on-One Interviews
Market Research
Reverse Engineering
Engineering Modeling
Rapid Prototyping
Consumer Surveys
Outcome
A new and innovative design for a can opener. The turning mechanism is shifted to the top, much like a salt & pepper grinder, in order to provide comfort as well as maximum control.
